“Southwest’s gem in the plains"
Founded in 1879, Crystal City is located near the US border in Manitoba’s Central Plains Region, just over an hour and a half southwest of Winnipeg. As an agricultural community, it is a business centre for the farms of the surrounding area and, as such, the local businesses serve a population base larger than 400 plus people who live in the town. In addition to the community’s many agriculturally-based businesses, shopping in Crystal City includes two grocery stores, a pharmacy, a credit union, a law and insurance office, a flower and gift shop, two hairdressers and a restaurant. More shopping options can be found a short 45 minutes away in the larger communities of Morden and Winkler.
For recreation, Crystal City offers numerous options for year-round enjoyment. Each summer, Crystal City hosts senior and junior baseball tournaments. The town boasts no less than three parks - the largest of which is Centennial Park which features playground facilities for the young. Nearby, residents have easy access to golf, tennis, bowling and an outdoor swimming pool. Also a short drive away is Rock Lake, a favourite with families which offers excellent boating and fishing. In Winter, sporting enjoyment can be found in Crystal City’s ice and curling arenas, and the surrounding area offers outstanding cross country skiing opportunities.
